Thoughts on Yakuza 6's ending
20/4/2018, 9:48 pm
- My thoughts:
- Yesterday I finished the main Story and now I want to share my opinion on it:
Kiryu fakes his death to live a new life and doesn't drag Haruka into another Yakuza mess. Only Date knows that Kiryu is alive.... wait and Haruto. He saw him too and as soon as he is able to speak it is very possible that he will tell Haruka that he saw Kiryu alive watching his first steps. That could motivate Haruka to search for him in Okinawa or wherever Kiryu lives during that time. It's a interesting fact but since Kiryus Story is over with Yakuza 6, we will probably never see it.
All in all it has been a very emotional and great ending for Kazuma Kiryu and I'm happy with it.
What are your thoughts on the Ending? With spoiler tag of course^^

- Thoughts.:
- I think the ending was poorly executed, and I think Kiryu faking his death was a lame ending, especially how it all happened. I wish Kiryu ACTUALLY died, and I wish the whole event of it happening had more weight. That said I think because of the fact he faked it made me feel worse about the ending. I dunno, a mediocre ending for less than good game I guess.

- Opinion after 2nd Playthrough:
- I finished the game on Legend difficulty now and I must say in terms of difficulty it's very easy. I used my already maxed out Kiryu Character for it, maybe that's one reason why. But even after playing the game 2 times I think the ending is pretty well done. Killing Kiryu wouldn't be the right move after we went through 7 Main Games together with him.

- I think the ending itself was fine but Iwami was a horrible final boss. Worst of the series.

- Ending was pretty good, but couldve been done better.
There was nothing with Majima or Saejima which was lame. Didn't tie that up. Kiyru faking his death was done well I reckon, he had a lot of reasoning behind it. But in saying that I think it wasnt as dramatic as Yakuza usually is.
Side note Haruto probably won't remember what Kiryu looks like, if we are gonna be technical :P. Baby's forgot people quite easy and quickly.

- Spoiler:
- So I'm actually confused why I read up a lot of disappointment and hate regarding the ending before playing the game.
I originally thought they were going to kill him off so that's why I assumed the negative feedback.
That being said....prior to the final fight...I thought he was going to die like that and it was quiet brutal. However, Yakuza magic and he managed to fight off the final boss. Afterwards I thought he died after the gun shot and the credits started to go and I figured....wow what a bad way to end the series and assumed this is why there was negative feedback. However I knew there was going to be a extra clip near the end and had hope he was alive.
Well...after all those extra cut scenes....I'm glad he is and I'm super satisfied with the ending.
It's like the OP mentioned. He separated himself from Haruka and his friends to not have them get involved in the constant Yakuza drama since he is a Legendary Yakuza and was the 4th chairman at one point.
We have to remember that Kazuma has tried many times to step away from the Yakuza and crime world....but he always gets pulled in and others are hurt by it.
This was the best move by him. Now everyone thinks his dead except for Date who he can trust....and it seems like Akiyama doesn't believe Kazmua is dead haha.
Anyways....I know ideally it would of been nice for him to go back to Sunflower orphanage and retire but his tried to do that and it never works out.
This was his best move and honestly....if there will be future games....we could get little Easter eggs with Kazama.

- Spoiler:
- I think what bothers me about the ending is that it's kind of tragic for him on a personal level - he really just wanted to retire and spend time caring for his family and now he has to leave that all behind, to what? Go off and live on his own somewhere? I find that more heartbreaking than anything - he does was he does to for his family, and in the process has to sacrifice being with them for it, proving his love for them.
I agree with folks that say the final boss was pretty awful. I don't feel he was charismatic or strong enough - he was absent throughout most of the game too. He was simply a weasel lol.
I am glad he wasn't killed - that would have felt almost a cop out - I just wanted him to retire to his little beach home in Okinawa :(
