Discussion The almighty Handgun

The almighty Handgun Yakuza_4_3

My inner conflict with Yakuza 4

I think this topic best fits into Yakuza 4 because said Handguns have been used very often in Cutscenes in Yakuza 4. Across all Yakuza games this method of Storytelling is used very often. The shot out of nowhere with the handgun that kills either the good or the bad guys or hurts someone badly.
But Yakuza 4 in my opinion takes it to the crown. In my first playthrough of Yakuza 4 I had already played Yakuza 0,1, and 3 and because of this even so I didn't knew anything about Yakuza 4s Story I could easily predict every Cutscene were a shot out of nowhere would happen. I just knew what would happen next. That never happened to me again in any other Yakuza game I played.

Is it just me or did they overuse this method of storytelling in Yakuza 4 so it got predictable? Could you also predict what will happen sometimes during the Story maybe also in other entries of the series?
I'm interested in knowing your opinion on this topic in general^^

It's a forum of storytelling where it expects you to ask when and why it will happen rather than what will happen. Yakuza 2 has my favorite story because it seems predictable until
Big Yakuza 2 Spoiler:
I think Yakuza 4 did the worst job with this because it had a lot of set up with this but didn't play off of it well making the story seem a lot more predictable because it didn't have a payoff similar to Yakuza 2. Events in Yakuza 3 were also pretty predictable though, and all of the Yakuza games have a bit of predictability in them. That said it doesn't help that in Yakuza 4 it was very predictable because we already know certain things are going to happen since it's main plot twists ARE in the past.  Taiga's story specifically ends up being predictable because a lot of it is based on past events.

In my opinion without knowing anything about Yakuza 6 at the moment I think that Yakuza Kiwami had the best Story. All the emotional moments and fates that where bound together, the tragedy of Nishkiyama, Haruka and the general atmosphere made it the best for me. I could really feel myself into Kiryus situation and how important all of this was for him. Yakuza Kiwami 2s Story is pretty twist heavy and comes closely after Yakuza Kiwami for me. Yakuza 3 and 0 are on the same level for me. Yakuza 3 had some very intense and emotional moments Keywords:
Spoiler:
. 4 and 5 tried to much with so much different Characters to play which made the story weaker compared to earlier titles in my opinion.
Together with your mentioned points I think it's another reason why Yakuza 4 got kinda predictable to a point where I just knew what will happen next.

FIxed it you are right. Kiwami added new Cutscenes who gave Nishkiyama a more refined Character and explained his transformation from Zero to Kiwami.
Fun fact: Playing the Yakuza 6 Japanese Demo the first time I thought Akiyama would be Nishkiyama. I think they do share some similarities in Style.

Akiyama is so carefree that he is nearly careless, and is full of confidence in himself and what he does. It's interesting that a character that similar in style are the polar opposite of each other.
